DeleteSocial Science is multidimensional, extremely complex and therefore requires many approaches to understand it. We just don’t study ordinary human life, which we focus to learn and understand, but we deal with the complexity of various aspect of our social being. It is with social science we learn more about the culture, attitude, behavior and character of each individual and groups of people in one society.
ReplyDeleteTo understand how education system work- or don’t work – social scientists develop theories providing logical explanations to better understand educational systems. These theories inform research on education and provide valuable insights into classroom interactions and methods of teaching students. Some theories have limited value, but others stand the test of time and have relevance beyond the immediate circumstances that generated to them. Theories rarely drive educational reforms; rather they often carry on and support particular waves of educational reforms.
As such, these social science theories shape and provide support for the context within which teachers teach, including the way we think about and carry out the responsibilities of teaching, the structure of the curriculum, how school operate, and links to the students and communities that schools serve.
There are several social science theories that relate to education; consensus, conflict, structural functionalist and interaction theories. How does it drive us educators to perform well in studying and understanding education?
Thanks, Sir:)

ReplyDeleteTheories generally emerged from social phenomena . What merely happen in the lexical world , and also in the metaphysical , were analyzed , and interpreted , until generalizations are being made to construct these plausible and intelligent assertions
ReplyDeleteTheories, more often than not, become living proofs that humans can turn their blind eye into something learned and guided by these intelligent and scientific laws . Theories give humans an eye of which enabling them to foresee intelligently what might happen in the future . This , however require a comprehensive understanding on these theories so that this may cause us the control to keep the quality of life we intend to have.
There are valuable insights on social psychological theories , for instance , help us , humans , to understand the stories behind today 's news headlines on such s as international terrorism , school violence , sexual harassment , same-sex marriage , and energy conservation (Shelley E . Taylor , et . al , 2002 . Thus , theories make us aware of the things we are more likely to respond on things happening on our daily lives . Moreover , theories augment the ties that bond our socio cultural relationships , our respect to other culture , orientations most especially to human dignity . Another example , sociological theories , like Functionalism , Conflict , and Interactionism , a great help in understanding many social institutions , factors , and phenomena Through these theories , people (who are in deep understanding with them manage to understand the sources of oppression in the society or the functions of which a social entity or institution is forge to carry out thus , making these people spearhead changes in the social , whether radical or moderate
Therefore, theories become part of knowledge that constitutes a person 's means to productively interact within the social world.
